A policeman died after being hit by a lorry in Uluberia. As soon as news of the incident reached Sankrail’s home, a shadow of grief descended. The name of the deceased traffic home guard is Somnath Roy age 40. The family rushed to Uluberia Saratchandra Medical College.

According to police and local sources, Somnath Babu was working in Uluberia Traffic Guard office. He was doing traffic duty at Uluberia’s Srirampur Junction on National Highway No. 16. At that time a moving lorry hit him. Before the locals arrived at the spot, the driver took the killer lorry and left towards Kolaghat. The police are trying to seize the lorry after examining the CCTV footage.
