Pakistan releases BSF jawan Purna Kumar

Kalyan Adhikary

BSF jawan Purnam Kumar alias PK Sau was released after 20 days. The resident of Hooghly, Bengal, was released by Pakistan on Wednesday. He returned to India through the Attari-Wagah border on Wednesday.

On April 23 (the day after the terrorist attack in Pahalgaon), Purnam mistakenly crossed into Pakistan while working in Pathankot, Punjab and was resting under a tree. That’s when Pakistani Rangers caught her.

If something like this happens on the border, it is only natural that the concerned jawan should be released after a ‘flag meeting’ between the border guards of the two countries. But Pakistan did not release Purnam at that time.

Pakistan finally released him on Wednesday. Relief has returned to the family.
