The Rishikesh-Karnprayag train is likely to be operational by 2026

You can travel by train from Rishikesh to Karnaprayag. Yes, it sounds surprising but it is true. The track laying work is progressing at a fast pace. It is believed that by the end of 2026, you can go directly from Delhi to Karnaprayag.
According to various news media, 35 bridges and 17 tunnels have been constructed over 105 km of the 125 km long railway project. It also includes the 15.1 km long tunnel between Devprayog and Lachmoli. Which is going to be the largest tunnel not only in Uttarakhand but also in the country.
It is known that there will be a total of 13 stations. Rishikesh, Muni Ki Reti, Shivpuri, Manjilgaon, Sakni, Devprayag, Kirtinagar, Srinagar, Dhari, Rudraprayag, Gholtir, Ghochar and Karnaprayag.
