Vande Bharat Express sleeper coming soon

The first Vande Bharat sleeper train, featuring enhanced passenger comfort and safety features, is expected to be ready for public use by January 2025. A prototype of the 16-car fully air-conditioned train, capable of accommodating over 820 passengers and capable of reaching speeds of up to 160 kmph, was unveiled at Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory (ICF) on Last Wednesday.

Built at a cost of 120 crore, it will undergo speed and safety tests from 90 kmph-180 kmph over two months, with trials assessing its emergency braking, control, and electrical systems. It is expected to be certified for public use by Jan 15, said ICF general manager U Subba Rao.
